Ian Howard Profile
Ian Howard is a senior consultant, facilitator and mentor with strong skills in the effective use of Information Systems (IS) for business as well as Leadership, Management and the Human Condition. He has extensive and versatile expertise garnered from an initial career with corporates and multi- nationals followed by more than 20 years working as a self employed independent consultant on a wide range of IS related initiatives across many industry sectors. Ian is a member of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the New Zealand Computer Society (NZCS) and holds a Commerce degree in Economics from the University of Auckland. He served as the Chairman of the NZCS Auckland Branch and was the NZCS National Councillor representing Auckland for a number of terms. As a lecturer and supervisor of the highly regarded University of Auckland Information Systems paper for almost a decade, Ian also offers insights from a teacher's perspective. Ian regularly makes presentations to ICT industry and commercial gatherings, and his views on a range of business related subjects are published from time to time.
As a long term enthusiast about the learning power of computer games, Ian is the co-founder of the Life Game Project (LGP): "Supporting New Zealand as a place where everybody is safe and loved by harnessing the power of immersive games technology to foster the development of life skills and positive lifestyle choices." When he is not working or playing computer games, Ian can be found pottering around in his much loved Ponsonby garden or out on the water in avid fulfilment of his passion for piscatorial pastimes.
